The Ona of Abaji and chairman of the council of traditional rulers in the FCT, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has said he is impressed with parents’ compliance in the ongoing polio immunization in the area.
Alhaji Yunusa, who stated this while monitoring the ongoing six days polio immunization exercise at Unguwar Bgakya in the area, yesterday, said the level of compliance among parents was as a result of public enlightenment carried out in both mosques and churches in the area.
Represented by the Madaki of Abaji, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Aguye, the Ona noted that the routine immunization exercise in his chiefdom had witnessed massive support through the efforts of stakeholders and religious leaders across the council.
The traditional ruler noted that the chiefdom had over the years emerged first position during the routine immunization exercise, saying parents had been cooperating with health workers.
“In fact, even in rural villages where there was report of no compliance by parents on immunization exercise, we quickly swung into action to ensure that such communities are captured,” he said.
The Ona also commended the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, and management of the FCT Primary Health Development Board for ensuring the success of the exercise.
